Belly Scratchers. Exactly what they sound like.
These are trout streamers designed to get down and stay down — right in the zone where the better fish sit. Fished slow along the deck, they track hook-point up and crawl over gravel, stones and light structure without constantly hanging up. You can let them tick bottom, pause them, even dead-drift them, and they still look alive.
The idea is simple: most big trout don’t waste energy chasing. They wait. These patterns put a proper baitfish profile right in their face, hugging the lake bed or river bottom like the real thing that’s rooting around or struggling in the current.
They’re weighted just enough to maintain contact without feeling clunky, and tied with mobile materials that move even when you’re barely doing anything. Strip… pause… let it drop… repeat. The takes are usually solid, no nonsense.
If you want to fish deep, slow and deliberately — and target trout that don’t come up for fluff — Belly Scratchers do exactly what they’re meant to do.
